The inside of your Melbourne, FL, home is the first thing you see when you wake up every morning and rolling out of bed to attractive walls and stylish furniture can put you in a positive mood for the rest of your day. However, properly decorating your home’s interior is easier said than done. Take a look at our list of some of the most common interior design mistakes to make sure you aren’t committing any of them right now.
1. Spotty Lighting
A room’s lighting makes all the difference in the world. Always start by maximizing a room’s natural light, and only focus ambient lighting after you’ve figured out a way to let some sunlight in. If you’re talking about a basement or another room that doesn’t have windows, then opt for high-quality bulbs and even consider using some spotlights if you need to.
2. Wall Art That Doesn’t Match
In the same way that a picture frame surrounds the art on your walls, the art on your walls acts as a frame for the room. At a bare minimum, make sure to hang every piece on your walls at matching angles. You can get away with clashing styles, but you can’t get away with one crooked frame.
3. A Rug That Overwhelms the Room
A great rug can be loud or subtle, but it has to flow with the room’s tone. Otherwise, you’re going to have an eyesore that just makes everything look like it’s out of control. If you’ve already installed all your furniture, then try to choose a rug that at least matches your furniture’s texture and matches your tiles.
